Contenuto di carboidrati nella gestione del diabete mellito di tipo 2: una revisione integrativa

Abstract

Le diete a basso contenuto di carboidrati e le diete chetogeniche sono diventate interventi popolari per la perdita di peso e per il trattamento del diabete mellito di tipo 2 (DM2), essendo in grado di ridurre i livelli sierici di HbA1C e l'uso di farmaci ipoglicemizzanti. Tuttavia, queste strategie dietetiche generano ancora polemiche tra gli operatori sanitari. Obiettivo: Il presente studio mirava ad analizzare se ci fossero maggiori benefici in relazione ai parametri antropometrici e di laboratorio, quando si adottano diete a basso contenuto di carboidrati, che giustificherebbero la loro scelta da parte degli operatori sanitari di fronte al DM2, rispetto alle diete a basso contenuto di carboidrati. contenuto di carboidrati moderato e alto. Materiali e metodi: è stata effettuata una ricerca nei database LILACS, PubMed e Scielo di articoli pubblicati negli ultimi cinque anni che analizzassero/confrontassero parametri antropometrici e di laboratorio di pazienti con DM2, utilizzando il termine inglese Type 2 Diabetes con la combinazione del termini associati al contenuto di carboidrati delle diete. Risultati e discussione: le diete con contenuto di carboidrati molto basso o basso mostrano risultati più soddisfacenti nei parametri antropometrici e di laboratorio, se confrontate con diete con carboidrati moderati e ricchi. Tuttavia, una restrizione prolungata dell'assunzione di carboidrati può portare a effetti indesiderati sulla salute, che non si verificano con interventi dietetici meno drastici. Conclusione: si conclude che, anche con un'aderenza simile, è importante seguire le raccomandazioni proposte dalle agenzie specializzate nel trattamento del diabete, al fine di evitare la comparsa di effetti avversi.
