Revisión sistemática sobre la acción del chocolate, el té, el vino tinto y el café sobre la salud cardiovascular

Resumen

Se seleccionaron 23 artículos publicados entre 1981 y 2006 por la American Heart Association (AHA) disponibles en el sitio, sobre el consumo de café, té con Camellia sinensis, chocolate y vino tinto o uvas, y se analizó su influencia en la salud humana. La mayoría de los individuos analizados eran mujeres (63%). Entre los trabajos analizados, hubo 16 ocurrencias (69,56%) de resultados positivos en la salud humana, mientras que 4 (17,39%) ocurrencias de resultados negativos y 7 (30,43%) ocurrencias de efecto nulo con el consumo de estos alimentos. Algunos estudios han obtenido resultados tanto positivos como negativos según la cantidad de alimentos ofrecidos o la frecuencia de consumo. Otros artículos tuvieron resultados positivos y sin efecto en el mismo estudio. El chocolate fue el alimento que, en términos porcentuales, tuvo mayor efecto sobre la salud, con una mejora en el perfil lipídico y una menor oxidación del colesterol LDL (31,25%). Estudios con café y vino tinto o uvas obtuvieron buenos resultados en un 25% cada uno con mejoría de la vasodilatación, disminución de la formación de placas aterogénicas, disminución de los triglicéridos (TG), efecto estimulante del sistema nervioso central (SNC) y mejoría de la fatiga. De los estudios realizados con el té, el 18,75% mostró mejoría en la función vasomotora, reducción del peso y la circunferencia de la cintura y reducción del colesterol LDL. Se deben realizar otros estudios, pero según el análisis, es válido incluir alimentos ricos en antioxidantes en una dieta saludable, ya que estos tienen un efecto protector e influyen positivamente en la recuperación de ciertas enfermedades.
