Consumo de frutas y pérdida de peso: una revisión sistemática y metanálisis

Resumen

La obesidad es una enfermedad que afecta a gran parte de la población y empeora la calidad de vida del individuo. Estudios longitudinales y transversales han asociado el consumo de frutas con la pérdida de peso. El objetivo de este estudio fue realizar una revisión sistemática y un metanálisis de estudios experimentales que evaluaron los efectos del consumo de frutas sobre el peso corporal en humanos. Se trata de una revisión sistemática y metaanálisis, siguiendo las recomendaciones PRISMA, en la base de datos Pubmed y Cochrane. Se incluyeron estudios experimentales que evaluaron los efectos del consumo de frutas en la pérdida de peso. Se incluyeron nueve estudios, de los cuales el 89% encontró efectos significativos sobre la pérdida de peso. En el metanálisis, hubo una pérdida de peso significativa de 410 gramos en comparación con el grupo de control [DME: -0,41; IC del 95%: -0,66, -0,15; p = 0,59; I2 = 0%]. La presente revisión sistemática y metanálisis demostraron que consumir más fruta puede ayudar a perder y mantener el peso corporal. Las intervenciones basadas en el consumo de frutas pueden ser una última opción para ayudar a reducir las altas tasas de obesidad en la población mundial.
