Abstract
Eating disorders are disturbance in eating behavior. Patients generally use physical activity as a compulsive way to lose weight. This study aimed to identify the physical activity profile of female patients of the Group of Assistance in Eating Disorders at Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo. The study sample was composed of eight patients between 18 and 54 years. After the patients signed the written informed consent, they were taken for the following tests: IQPA (International Questionnaire on Physical Activity), CES (The commitment to exercise scale), estimation of perception and satisfaction with body image through the Silhouette Figure Scale, furthermore electrical bioimpedance, to analyze body composition. Numerical variables were submitted to D'Agostino & Pearson's normality test. Of the results obtained, the mean BMI was 21.31 ± 6.54 kg /m². They were well hydrated (54.87%), with muscle mass within the recommendations (74.62%) and body fat close to the maximum limit of the recommendation (25.37%). The patients are inaccurate and dissatisfied with the body image. The IQPA showed that 75% of the patients were characterized with high level of physical activity, and 25% with moderate level of, and the total score CES obtained 40.9 not being classified as high commitment with the exercise. It is concluded that this group does not present a profile of excessive physical activity, however, other studies are necessary in order to add new values and knowledge on the profile of physical activity in patients with eating disorders.
