Association of abdominal adiposity with clinical factors in climate women
Abstract
Introduction: Climattery refers to a phase in the life of the woman that happens naturally. In this period, there may be an impact on the biological, endocrine functions that lead to greater susceptibility to comorbidities, especially the abdominal adiposity concentration. Objective: to analyze the relationship between abdominal adiposity and clinical factors in climacteric women assisted in Family Health Strategies. Methodology: cross-sectional, analytical study of a population of 30,801 climacteric women enrolled in the 73 Family Health Strategy (ESF) units of Montes Claros - Minas Gerais. Clinical conditions were climacteric, presence of cardiovascular diseases, Metabolic Syndrome (MS), Urinary Incontinence, Diabetes, Blood Pressure (BP) and Renal Disease. Initially, the sample profile was performed, using frequencies and percentages, and then a bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. Statistical relevance was considered in all statistical analyzes, p <0.05. Results: Among the 874 women investigated, there was an association between changes in WHR with the climacteric phases (p = 0.000), cardiovascular diseases (p = 0.000), metabolic syndrome (p = 0.000) and diabetes (p = 0.000). Conclusion: it is concluded that the WHR changes reflect negatively during the climacteric period, in the presence of cardiovascular diseases, MS, PA and diabetes, and it is essential to raise awareness of this population since the pathologies associated with increased abodimal adiposity can be minimized with implementation of health education programs in family health strategies.
