Evaluation of the percentage of body fat of obesos patients who had been submitted to the bariatric surgery for the technique of Fobi Capella
Abstract
The intention of this study was to evaluate the loss of body fat in severely obese subjects that had presented IMC (Index of Corporal Mass) > 35 by the anthropometrical technique that had been submitted to the Bariatric Surgery for the mixing technique of Fobi Capella for video laparoscopy. Participate of the sample 17 subjects, being 12 of masculine sex and 5 of the feminine sex with age between 20 and 60 years. The changes of body composition had been measured by the following anthropometrics variables: weight, stature, abdominal circumferences. With these anthropometrics variables, the percentage of body fat (%BF) was estimated using Siri (1961) equation. The subjects had been evaluated before the surgery, approximately with 45 and 60 days respectively. The loss of weight as well as the IMC had occurred of form foreseen in literature having proven the effectiveness of the bariatric surgery for treatment of the obesities morbid with exception that these patients will have in the long run to continue being monitored so that the loss of weight is continuous and it does not have guano of weight. The reduction of the percentage of body fat demonstrated in the research was acceptable, since the surgery time did not favor the patient’s practices it of physical activity what it would intensify the reduction of this percentage. The abdominal circumference as one of the used anthropometrics variable to evaluate this group, it presented resulted significant showing to be a good predictor of body composition in obese.
