Lychee flour acceptance and its effect on children’s slimming with overweight
Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the acceptance of lychee flour and its effect on weight loss of children overweight. Methods: The lychee flour was developed and microbiological analyzes were carriedout before it is offered to children. Was measured weight and height of the children at the beginning and end of the study. For four weeks it was done sensory analysis of raw milk and milk with lychee meal and some clinical signs of food toxicity. The Wilcoxon test was used to compare the effect of treatment with the lychee flour, 5% significance. Results: The flours were adequate for human consumption. The boys ate a greater amount of milk with flour and gave lower scores for this milk;however this fact did not cause a significant reduction in body weight. There were no toxic reactions, and the lychee milk flour had an85% acceptance for girls and boys by 81%. Conclusion: The lychee flour did not cause toxic reactions, was accepted by the children and didnot cause a significant reduction in body weight. It is suggested that further studies are conducted with more than four weeks and a greater amount of lychee flour and use the flour from the peel of this fruit that is rich in phenolic compounds.
