Nutritional profile of participants of a youth olympics in an evangelical community
Abstract
The adequate nutrition is fundamental for the better performance of physical activities, but today the chronic non-communicable diseases has been taking body front the obesity epidemic. In order to assess the nutritional status of participants in a youth olympiad of an evangelical community from Joinville-SC, 98 individuals of both genders with age range between 18 to 53 years were studied. This is a cross-sectional study,exploratory and descriptive. Anthropometric analysis were performed gauging of weight, height and circumference of your neck (CP). For the dietary study were use a questionnaire related to dietary and living habits. At the end of the data collection was given a newsletter about healthy eating to the participants. It was found that 90% of women and 61.7% of men are eutrophic, and that men are in the classification of overweight in greater quantity (30.8%) than women (6.6%). Only 1 individual framed in grade1 thinness situation. The majority of individuals who have submitted high CP were overweight men (7.35%). Before the results, we can see the importance of nutritional guidance for healthy eating and weight loss, this will reflect positively in the prevention of obesity and will provide a better quality of life by avoiding a condition for the development of metabolic syndrome.
