Nutritional management of eating disordersin obesity
Abstract
Introduction: the psychological burden involving prejudice and discrimination that obese suffers, causes insecurity, feelings of isolation, failure, humiliation that can trigger an eating disorder. Objective: To conduct a survey of the scientific literature about the nutritional management of eating disorders in obesity. Materials and Methods: a survey of the scientific literature related to the topic in journals indexed in the Journal Portal Capes and Virtual Health Library for the past 10 years. Results: The nutritional approach for obese patients with eating disorders should be differentiated from conventional treatment in order to treat the two diseases. Discussion: nutritional treatment should be directed to reverse the changes in nutritional status caused by binge eating and promote healthier eating habits, but few studies recommended the diet low in calorie density for weight loss to improve the self-esteem of patients reduce the binge. Conclusion: Further studies are required on the nutritional management of eating disorders in obesity.
