Nutritional changes that most increase in the world are overweight and obesity, where one in five children are affected, consisting of a major public health problem. The education of the person with obesity plays an important role in the acceptance of this "diagnosis"and unders-tanding of the measures that have todoto modify their behavior to take an active rolein their treatment. The literacy determines the access to information and comfort and the ability to negotiate the health care system. The measures to increase the health literacy are important in the development of personal and social empowerment, contributing to the overweight personis able to identify and become a ware of their own health needs and develop the appropriates skills to they can perform the actions that will make changes in lifestyle and healthier environments. The children and young people must develop their own capacity to obtain, use and understand health information; this increase in literacy will allow them to make their own choices about yourself-care, which in turn has an impactin BMI.
