Abstract

From a simple energy depot, the adipocyte became an endocrine organ. Among the several substances synthesized and released from it, the adiponectin has been detached because its high concentration on blood has been related with health and life quality. In contrast, its low levels are associated with poor life quality and some diseases. On the other hand, regular physical activity is widely recognized with health promoter. However, the impact of physical exercise on adiponectin levels is unknown of majority of healthy professionals. Therefore, the aim of this review was to show the newest and important studies that verified this relation and its repercussions for public health. In a general fashion, the studies have showed that a relation between physical exercise and blood adiponectin concentration still isn’t totally clear. Although, some authors found increase in adiponectin levels and this could be highly beneficial for public health.
