The role of hyperprotectic diet as a dietary strategy in life and quality of life
Abstract
The hyperproteic diet is based on the intake of high levels of protein, has been prescribed worldwide as a strategy for weight loss and combat obesity, being used between 1.2 to 1.6 g / kg of weight and can be used up to 2g / kg of weight. The present work aims to demonstrate the main effects of hyperproteic diets on weight loss and quality of life. For the development of this article, a systematic search was carried out in the databases BVS / Pubmed, Scielo and Lilacs, using the association of descriptors in English and Portuguese: "body composition", "weight loss" and "proteins in the diet". Analyzing the studies included in this review, it is possible to verify that patients who underwent diets rich in proteins had a greater weight loss than the standard protein diets, since there is an increase in fat oxidation in an acute way, as well as in the production of satiety levels higher than standard low-protein diets. Hyperproteic diets when associated with a caloric deficit lead to improvement in several biochemical patterns, such as lower insulin resistance, significantly decreasing waist circumference, thus reducing the risk of developing cardiometabolic diseases. The studies analyzed corroborate that the hyperproteic diet, using up to 30% of the TEV in healthy individuals, is a good strategy for weight loss. In addition, other benefits have been observed such as loss of fat mass, maintenance of muscle mass, decrease in waist circumference and insulin resistance, promoting health and providing a better quality of life to individuals.
